How it happened

  • Off of an 18-2 win on Saturday the Dragons looked to get the W before the storm came. The scoring started early and almost every opportunity the Dragons had in the 1st half they scored. Silvia Kim (Clarksville, MD/River Hill), Cassidy Delaney (Ellicott City, MD/Marriotts Ridge ), Kaylee Toth (Ellicott City, MD/Mount Hebron), and Olivia Canby (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) all had 2 goals each.
  • The other 7 goals were scored by Nicole Keller (Ellicott City, MD/Howard), Kelsey Scott (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville ), Brittany Wartman, Savanna Holt (West Friendship, MD/Glenelg ), Ashley Dodds (Canton, GA/Creekview), Bailey Souder (Ellicott City, MD/Marriotts Ridge), and Kendall Stull (Jessup, MD/River Hill)
  • 12 of the 15 goals scored were unassisted. The Dragons out shot Frederick 16-5 in the 1st half. But were out shot 11-6 in the 2nd half.
  • At the 13:32 mark in the 1st half Brittany Wartman scored the 10th goal for Howard.
  • The Dragons led at halftime 13-0. In the 2nd half the Dragons scored 2 more goals by Kendall Stull (Jessup, MD/River Hill) assisted by Kelsey Scott (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville ) and Bailey Souder (Ellicott City, MD/Marriotts Ridge).
  • Howard was able to get all of their players into the game more so in the 2nd half when the game was in hand.
  • Frederick looked like they were going to make a comeback late in the 2nd half scoring 5 goals 3 of which were in a 2 minute span. But the Dragons ended all hopes of any comeback with their four corners style offense when they were in the Cougars zone and from there weaving in and out killing the clock.
