Despite a strong 2
nd half, the Howard Community College (HCC) Dragons Women's lacrosse program dropped a close game to a strong Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) Riverhawks team.
HCC got off to a slow start in this game giving up 5 and 6 goal runs to the Riverhawks in the 1
st half of this game to go down 12-4 at halftime.
Looking like the game was out of reach the Dragons slowly crawled its way back into the game. HCC fought hard in the 2
nd half, but its efforts came up just short falling to the Riverhawks 20-17. In the 2
nd half
Kelsey Scott (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) (Catonsville, MD, Catonsville) and
Jenny Rabush (Ellicott City, MD, Hebron) combined for 9 of HCC's 13 goals in the half. Scott led the Dragons on the day with 6 goals credited to her.
Kristen Ogle (Sykesville, MD, Century) and
Rachel Sigwalt (Silver Spring, MD, Blake) combined with Scott to lead the Dragons in assists with 2 each.
Kelsey Scott (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) continued her outstanding performance by co-leading HCC in ground balls with
Brittany Wartman (Ellicott City, MD, Mt. Hebron) scooping up 5 apiece.
The Dragons will look to get back to its winning ways this weekend as they travel to Long Island to face off against Suffolk and Nassau in back to back days. First up for HCC will be Suffolk on Saturday, with both games facing off at 12 PM.
