Tom's River, NJ – The Howard Dragons women's lacrosse team hit the road to win their season opener over the Ocean County Vikings, for a final score of 25-2.
The Dragons saw an early lead in the game, taking a 10-1 lead in the first half which allowed them to cruise to an easy victory.
Madison Brady (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) led the game with six goals, followed by
Sydney Choo Quan (Columbia, MD/Mt. de Sales) with five,
Sydney Beck (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) with four,
Ivy Cameros (Silver Spring, MD/Blake) with three,
Emily Banh (Columbia, MD/Howard) and
Jane Ridgell (Columbia, MD/Hammond) with two each.
Kamryn Dudley (Walkersville, MD/Walkersville),
Ray'Kiyara Anderson (Baltimore City, MD/Western) and
Lily Eisenhart (Mt. Airy, MD/Linganore) all had one goal to their name.
Brady also helped Howard to their first win of the season by leading in assists for the game with three, along with two each from
Jane Ridgell (Columbia, MD/Hammond) and
Lily Eisenhart (Mt. Airy, MD/Linganore). Returning sophomores
Mariel Henriquez (Laurel, MD/Reservoir) and Beck also helped add points to the Howard board with one assist.
Naila Smith (Parkville, MD/Parkville) made three saves in her first collegiate game, only allowing the Vikings two goals for the full 60 minute game.
The Dragons will be on the road again to play at Jefferson Community College in Watertown, NY on March 21
st with a 3:30 PM start.
