Hanna Drops Triple-Double as Dragons Fall to Harcum

Bryn Mawr, PA - Howard Community College's JV men's basketball team came closer to victory than ever before Tuesday night, falling to Harcum College 92-86.

Behind a triple-double from Jasper Hanna (Washington, DC/E.L. Haynes), the Dragons led after the first half and played their best game of the season. Unfortunately, Harcum out-shot the Dragons in the final period and pulled away. dropping the Dragons to 0-4 on the season.

Howard took an early lead thanks to smart shooting from Hanna and Truce Norton (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills), taking a five-point lead deep into the first half. The Bears would battle back, tying the game with ten minutes to go in the half. Both teams took turns leading as the game evolved into a shootout. A strong final minute by the Dragons gave them a 48-44 lead, their first halftime lead in program history.

The second half picked up where the first had left off with frantic back-and-forth shooting. Harcum's Kai Walker and Cameron Grant proved tough to beat in the paint, and a series of steal-and-scores gave the Bears a double-digit lead. Howard fought back, leaning on Hanna's excellent shooting and a program-record six three pointers. Howard battled within three, then tied the game at 81-81 with minutes left. However, the first victory would have to wait as the Dragons struck foul trouble, allowing Harcum to pull away for the win.

Hanna finished with a triple-double, the first in program history. The freshman dropped 13 points, eleven rebounds, and ten assists, along with two blocks and three steals. Truce Norton (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) had a career-night, dropping a career-high 18 points to lead all scorers. Norton also added five rebounds and four assists. Nehemiah Smith (Bronx, NY/Laurel) scored a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. Bliden Elung (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) added 12 points, four rebounds, and two steals off the bench, while Darius Dorsey (Laurel, MD/Home School) added ten points and six rebounds. Stewart Long (Annapolis, MD/Springdale Prep) contributed eight points and six rebounds.
