Former Howard Community College Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach Maureen Shacreaw was named the women’s head coach by HCC Athletic Director Diane Schumacher, in May of 2015.
Shacreaw was an assistant women’s basketball coach at HCC in 2013 under former head coach Tiffany Stewart. Shacreaw coached basketball in Howard County at Atholton and Long Reach High Schools and has over 150 wins at the high school level. In 2006, her program at Atholton was the 2A South Region champion and State Semifinalist. In 2007, Atholton was the 2A South Regional Champion, State Champion and Howard County Champion. And in 2008, Atholton was the 3A East Region Champion and State Finalist.
A graduate of the University of Maryland, Shacreaw holds a Master’s degree in Recreation. She earned her administrative certificate from Johns Hopkins University in 2011 and is currently in her 29th year of teaching overall with 16 years in the Howard County Public School system and is both a Registered Athletic Administrator and a Certified Athletic Administrator.
Shacreaw comes to HCC excited to accept the challenge of building the women’s basketball program.
She aims to compete for a title in the Maryland Junior College Conference and a Region XX title to compete for a national championship at Division II.
