Dragons Come Up Short in Finals

The Howard Community College Women's Volleyball Program went 1-1 on the day winning their first match of the day against Lackawanna College (PA) to make it to the championship, however, confrence rival Harford Community College edged the Dragons in the championship.

In the first match of the day Howard won in four games by a score of (23-25, 25-7, 25-23, 25-18).  after dropping the first game the Dragon's roared back showing a lot of resolve winning three straight to win the match three games to one.  The freshman Dominated this match with Taylor Bowen (South Carroll HS) leading the team in kills with 8 followed closely behind by fellow freshman Brandi Kraisser (Centennial HS)who added 7 kills.  Sophomore Katryna Katulski (Elkridge, MD, Mount De Sales HS) lead the team in digs with 12.

Shortly after the first match the Dragons came back to face Harford Community College in the finals.  Unlike the first match the Dragons found themselves on the short end of the four game match by a score of (25-23, 15-25, 23-25, 11-25).  Katulski provided great leadership for the team leading them in kills with 8 and aces with 2, also she finished the match with 6 digs.  Bowen also contributed 6 kills 2 aces and 3 blocks.  Mickey Aguirre (Columbia, MD, Oakland Mills HS) lead the team in digs in this match with seven.

With these results the Dragons are now (3-1) on the season and finished the first tournament of the year as runners up.  The Dragons will return to action Thursday September 4 as they take on Frederick Community College here at the Dragon Athletic Complex with game time set for 7:30pm.
