Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Nighthawks Add to Dragons Tough Start to Season

The Howard CC men's basketball team dropped their first Region XX contest of the season as they fell to NOVA CC 119-108. The loss drops the team to 1-4 on the season after it was announced that Hostos CC had to forfeit their game against the HCC from the Dragon Invitational.

NOVA continued their high scoring ways as they went to 4-0 on the season thanks to a 70 point first half in the Dragons Lair. They were led by sophomore guard Curtis Lovitt who went 10-10 from the floor in the first half and finished with 30 points on the game. After the game was over, 6 players from NOVA finished in double digits including Samuel Taylor who had 29 points and 10 rebounds.

The Dragons were able to make a big comeback in the 2nd half as HCC put in 62 points to make the Nighthawks sweat a little in the end. HCC received 9 points from the bench as Coach Dull was forced to lean heavily on his starters, especially Juwan Grant (Baltimore, MD, Baltimore City HS) who played all 40 minutes and put in 33 points and 12 rebounds and 2 blocks. His twin brother John Grant Jr. (Baltimore, MD, Baltimore City HS) added 28 points and 13 rebounds as the brothers combined to go 22-25 from the charity line. Kyle Davis (Washington D.C., Wakefield HS) added 20 points of his own thanks to a trio of three-pointers along with 5 steals and Gregory Ash Jr. (West Baltimore, MD, Northwestern HS) had 18 points and 7 rebounds as well as leading the team with 4 assists.

HCC will next take on another Regional opponent in the CC of Beaver County on Friday November 13th; tip-off at 7:00 PM.
