The Howard CC men's basketball team fell to 0-3 to start the season as they dropped their home opener to Hostos CC 111-95. The game was part of the annual Dragon Invitational as a season tip-off event for schools in the region.

HCC was once again plagued by poor defense as Hostos shot 70% from the field led by Jefferson Francois with 33 points and Hakeem Henry with 20 courtesy of point guard Jemal Smith's 18 assists.

The Dragons were once again led by the twins John Grant Jr. (Baltimore, MD, Baltimore City HS) with 24 points,12 rebounds, and 4 steals next to Juwan Grant (Baltimore, MD, Baltimore City HS) scoring 22 of his own along with a couple of blocks. HCC's bench was very productive in the game as well thanks to DeJaun Smith (Arlington, VA, Senecca Valley HS) with his 10 points and Ryan Jackson (Baltimore, MD, Milford Mill Academy) and 9 points.

Thankfully for the Dragons, they have a short turnaround to make amends as they complete the Dragons Invitational against Suffolk CC at 1 PM on Sunday November 8th.
