Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Cougars Defeat Dragons With Hot Three-Point Shooting

The Howard CC men's basketball team continued their struggling season as they fell to Frederick CC by the score of 72-63. With that result, the Dragons fell to 3-8 on the season and 0-4 in the conference placing them in last place of the 15 team MD JUCO.

Nathan Bonsu (Silver Spring, MD, James Hubert Blake HS) took advantage of a rare start and scored 8 points on 6-8 shooting from the floor. In fact Bonsu was one of just 4 players for HCC that had a point on a day when Kyle Davis (Washington D.C., Wakefield HS) and Gregory Ash Jr. (West Baltimore, MD, Northwestern HS) were unable to provide their usual offensive production; Davis was able to provide 7 assists on the day.

HCC welcomed Juwan Grant (Baltimore, MD, Baltimore City HS) back into the lineup as he missed the last game after an injury, and he was able to score 21 points in 28 minutes of play along with two huge back-to-back blocks in a great defensive series. His twin brother John Grant Jr. (Baltimore, MD, Baltimore City HS) recorded another double-double on the day as he scored 22 points along with 13 rebounds. J.P. Herbert (Gaithersburg, MD, Gaithersburg HS) was the other Dragon to score points as he added 7 to the scoreboard, but fouled out late in the 2nd half.

Frederick was led by hot three point shooting as they were 7-13 from behind the arc led by Rashard Lewis with 22 points as the Cougars got points from 10 different players; a stark contrast to the home team. Jacob McIntosh had a dominating game in the post with 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 blocks.

The Dragons next travel to the Naval Academy to take on their JV team on Sunday December 20th; tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
