Dragons Fall Short to Baltimore City Community College

In a thrilling contest between two tough basketball teams, Howard CC were unable to complete the thrilling comeback and fell to Baltimore City CC 83-80. 

BCCC received a generous three free throws with 2 seconds left in a tied game and were able to make all three. Ian Vasquez (Harlem, NY, Lincoln HS) put up what looked to be a game tying three pointer as time expired, but the shot was just too long. 

The Dragons got off to a fast start thanks to a couple of three pointers from Vasquez and Brandon Roberson (Laurel, MD, Laurel HS) early in the game as HCC jumped out to a 7-0 lead. BCCC then went on a run as they shot 61% on field goals in the first half.

The game saw only one lead change in the entire game when BCCC went up 16-14 and never looked back.
HCC found themselves clawing back into the game for the last 3/4 of the contest, and finally were able to catch the Panthers when Connor Gaskins (Randallstown, MD, Randallstown HS) pulled down an offensive rebound and the subsequent layup tied the game at 80-80.

Vasquez was one of 5 Dragons with double digit points as he dropped 14, Willie Kee (Baltimore, MD, Parkville HS) and Gaskins had 13 each, Austin Nwosu (Riverdale, MD, Annapolis Area CA) scored 12, and Robert Goodwin (Baltimore, MD, Ben Franklin HS) scored 11 off the bench, The Dragons were unable to keep up with the Panthers in shooting as HCC shot just 41% from the floor compared to BCCC's 58%.
