Dragons Cruise to a 4 - 0 victory over Cougars

lifted by strong defensive play by freshman goalkeeper Savannah Hill

Coming off a tough 2-1 loss to Patrick Henry Community College, the Howard Community College Women's Soccer Program was looking to rebound against Frederick Community College.

Howard beat Frederick 4-0 to get back on the winning track. In the first half Howard came out striking with 10 shots to just 5 for Frederick. Howard found the back of the net for the first time in the 7th minute as Aleena Walters (Mt. Airy, MD/South Carroll HS) scored and Savanna Holt (West Friendship, MD/Glenelg High School) recorded the assist. The scoring didn't stop there in the half, as Jasmine McConnell (Columbia, MD/Howard HS) put the Dragons up 2-0 with her goal in the 31st minute. McConnells'goal was assisted by Brittany Wartman (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron HS).

Coming out of halftime Howard had a 2 goal lead and were looking to add more. Howard added 11 more shot to just Frederick's 2.  Tina Gray (Laurel, MD/Reservoir HS) had an unassisted goal at the 69th minute and 12 minutes later at the 81 minute mark Lydia White (Columbia, MD/Cedar Brook Academy) scored an unassisted goal making it 4-0. Savannah Hill (Laurel, MD/South Carroll HS) added 5 saves to ensure the shutout. As the game was in hand the decision was made to put in the backup goalie Amira Burgin (Waldorf, MD/Hong Kong Academy) so she could get some playing time, and rest the starting goalie.  Amira stepped in made 1 save, but also helped in securing the shutout en route to victory.

With this win the Dragons are (6-4) overall and (3-2) in the conference which puts Howard in 4th place in the conference.  The Dragons next home games are October 12th vs. Southern Maryland and the 15th vs. Monroe College.
