The HCC women's lacrosse team moved to 2-0 on the season as they cruised past the College of Southern Maryland 16-6. A comfortable win for the Dragons was essential as they get into a particularly tough part of their schedule in the coming weeks.

With HCC playing in their second game of the season, there is a certain amount of identity searching still in process for this team. However, the leaders of the team appear to be emerging as captain Nicole Cote (Elkridge, MD, Long Reach High School) has the defensive line in top shape along with freshman Danielle Spencer (Rockville, MD, Richard Montgomery High School) whose transfer from Montgomery College appears to be a massive coup as she showed her talent with 4 groundballs and 3 caused turnovers on the day. Star goalkeeper Ellie Garvey (Elkridge, MD, Francis Scott Key) ?made 5 saves on 11 shots.

On the offensive side, Cassidy Delaney (Ellicott City, MD, Marriotts Ridge High School) continues to show off her talent with 4 goals and 2 assists along with Rebeka Coughlin (Sykesville, MD, Liberty High School) and Gannon Costello (Ellicott City, MD, Seton Keough High School) adding 3 goals and 1 assist each. Transformed soccer player Audrey Ford (Woodbine, MD, Glenelg HS) chipped in 2 goals and 2 assists and Heather Veli (Burtonsville, MD, Blake High School) continues to evolve from last year's performance with a 1 goal and 2 assist day.

Things will only get tougher for the Dragons as they travel to CCBC Essex on Wednesday March 16th to take on an improved Knights squad; game time is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
