Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

#4 Ranked Dragons Fly Past Knights 15-3

The HCC women's lacrosse team continues to fire on all cylinders to start the season as they defeated the CCBC Essex Knights 15-3. The win improves the Dragons to 3-0 on the season and 2-0 in conference play as they are currently on top on the MD JUCO conference.

After the latest national rankings came out on Tuesday showing HCC as the #4 team in the NJCAA, the Dragons knew that their crosstown rivals would put a big target on this game. HCC made sure to dispel that idea quickly as they went up 7-0 in the first 12 minutes of the game on their way to a 12-1 halftime score with first half hat tricks from Cassidy Delaney (Ellicott City, MD, Marriotts Ridge High School) and Gannon Costello (Ellicott City, MD, Seton Keough High School).

With the running clock for the entire second half, the Dragons relaxed a bit in the second stanza with Delaney adding 3 more goals but no other Dragon putting the ball in the net. Rebeka Coughlin (Sykesville, MD, Liberty High School) had a great game on both sides of the field as she provided 2 goals, 2 assists, 5 draw controls, 7 ground balls, and 7 caused turnovers. In addition to Delaney's 6 goals, she also added 3 assists, 3 ground balls, 3 caused turnovers, and 1 draw control.

The HCC defense held strong again as Nicole Cote (Elkridge, MD, Long Reach High School), Danielle Spencer (Rockville, MD, Richard Montgomery High School), Savanna Holt (West Friendship, MD, Glenelg High School), Kirsten Murrill (Sykesville, MD, Century High School), and goalie Ellie Garvey (Elkridge, MD, Francis Scott Key) continue to be amazing as they lead the conference with just 4 goals allowed per game.

The Dragons will face their toughest test of the season as they return home on Saturday March 19th as they take on the #2 ranked Onondaga CC Lazers at 11 AM.
