Fighting Owls Soar Past Dragons 9-5

The #2 ranked Howard CC women's lacrosse team were unable to overcome a strong #4 ranked Harford CC team as they fell to the Fighting Owls 9-5. The loss drops the Dragons to 5-1 on the season and 3-1 in the conference behind Harford.

Harford CC got off to a strong start with a goal from star midfielder Lauren Haggerty as she put in the first of her 4 goals of the game to go along with 10 draw controls with teammate Megan Aro chipping in 3 goals and 1 assist.

For the Dragons, goalkeeper Ellie Garvey (Elkridge, MD, Francis Scott Key) came up with 9 saves in the game as she faced 23 shots in the game. Her defense did everything they could to help their goalie out as Nicole Cote (Elkridge, MD, Long Reach High School) had 5 ground balls and 4 caused turnovers along with Danielle Spencer (Rockville, MD, Richard Montgomery High School) who added 4 and 2 respectively. 

On the offensive side, Rebeka Coughlin (Sykesville, MD, Liberty High School) held things together as she scored 4 goals along with 8 ground balls and 4 caused turovers and 2 draw controls. Audrey Ford (Woodbine, MD, Glenelg HS) was able to put in a goal on a great series of dodges through the Owls defense.

The Dragons are in for quite a rough patch as they are in the middle of a 5 games in 7 day stretch. This includes a weekend trip to New York as they take on Nassau CC this Saturday April 9th for a 3 PM game before going to Suffolk CC on Sunday April 10th for a noon face-off.
