The Howard Community College (HCC) Women's Soccer Program finished their home invitational with a perfect 2-0 record, beating Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) 3-0.
HCC dominated the possession throughout the game keeping the ball on their attacking half for the majority of the game, which gave their defense much needed rest. Despite controlling the play HCC went into the half scoreless for the second straight day. The Dragons peppered the FIT goalkeeper, by outshooting the Tigers 21-1 with 8 shots going on goal.
The Dragons came out firing again in the second half and they didn't waste much time putting a ball in the back of the net. Sophmore
Savanna Holt (West Friendship, MD, Glenelg High School) got the Dragons on the board first as she recieved the ball from
Brittany Wartman (Ellicott City, MD, Mt. Hebron HS) and beat the keeper in the bottom corner of the goal. Just three minutes later HCC got an insurance goal as
Kaitlyn McDaniel (Ellicott City, MD, Westminster HS) found the back of the net, she was assisted on the play by Wartman who finished the day with two assists. The last goal the Dragons would score came off a shot from outside the 18 as
Kelsey Scott (Elkridge, MD, Catonsville HS) finished the day for HCC.
With the win HCC improves to 5-2 on the season. The Dragons will travel to MD JUCO rival Montgomery on September 21 as the Dragons will look to avenge last years heartbreaking loss to Montgomery who ended the Dragons season in the MDJUCO tournament. Game time is set for 4:00PM.
