Dragons Split Two Matches at Harford Tri-Match

Howard CC vs. CC of Beaver County

The Dragons swept the first match of their doubleheader in straight sets over the Community College of Beaver County. The Dragon starters won the first two sets handily before the second team fought off a valiant attempt by the Titans to win the 3rd set. Ultimately, the Dragons showed a lot of grit and completed the victory to start the season 3-0.

Howard CC vs. Harford CC

In the headliner match of the evening, the Dragons faced a strong Harford CC Fighting Owls squad and fell three sets to two.

After the two teams split an evenly matched first two sets, Howard CC dominated the third set and were well on their way to a fourth set win. However, with the Dragons up 15-10 in the 4th set, Harford went on a tear and never looked back as they won the 4th and took the 5th set as well as the match.

Taylor Anderson (Ellicott City, MD, Centennial HS) was a masher all night with 9 kills and a block. Alana Matson (Baltimore, MD, Seton Keough HS) was involved a great deal in the middle of the court as she finished with 5 solo blocks and another 2 that were assisted. Dragons libero Allia Mostafa (Columbia, MD, Oakland Mills HS) led the team with 15 digs while also adding 4 assists while setter Sara Few (Taneytown, MD, Carroll Christian HS) tallied 22 assists on the day.

The Dragons will next participate in the 14th annual Dragon Invitational that will take place on September 3rd and 4th.
