The women's soccer team ended their four game losing streak after thoroughly dismantling
Hagerstown 11-1. The team displayed stellar offensive and defensive play as they tallied 25
shots on goal while holding the Hawks to only 7.
Howard started the game with an early goal from forward
Kaitlyn McDaniel (Westminster, MD./Westminster) on an assist from
midfielder
Kelsey Scott (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) and never looked back. After dominating both sides of the ball, the
Dragons effectively put the game away with four goals over the span of 8 minutes.
The focal point of the offensive showcase was forward
Nikki Viera (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colégio Adventista de Itapecerica da Serra), who finished the game with
a hat trick, on 7 of 11 shooting, and two assists. Regarding her performance in the game, Viera
said she was "really happy with not only her performance, but also with the team's". She also
thinks that the team was able to succeed on both sides because they were "focused on doing our
part individually but at the same time...as a unit".
Nikki now has 6 goals and 8 assists on the season and will look to keep the momentum going as
the 6-4-1 [3-1-1] Dragons look to get back to their winning ways when they face CCBC-Essex at
the Dragons Athletic Complex.
