Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Dragons Soar Past Raptors With Early Goal

The Howard Community College (HCC) Men's Soccer program claimed a huge result against rival Montgomery College (MC) Raptors 1-0 Wednesday Afternoon at the Dragons Sports Complex in Columbia, MD.

The Dragons came ready to play in a massive game for both teams, with Region XX rankings at stake.  HCC going into the game was the second seed in Region XX Division III men's soccer, and with the win today they put themselves in an excellent position to remain in the second seed and a potential to move into the first spot with help from Montgomery on Friday.  This game was back and forth from the beginning; however, it was HCC that was able to get on the board first, which was all that was needed in the win.  Daniel Fuentes (Clarksville, MD/River Hill) was the one who scored the goal for the Dragons as he was able to take the ball down the middle of the field and blast the ball under the outstretched netminder.

MC had some threatening looks at goal throughout the game, but HCC's defense came up strong to not allow MC to equalize the game.  Simon Bradford (Columbia, MD/Hammond) came up big continually making great plays on the ball, which helped preserve the lead for the Dragons late in the game.

With the Win, the Dragons improve to 10-5-1 (9-2-1) on the season.  The regular season for HCC concludes on Saturday as they face Potomac State College first touch is scheduled for 2 PM.
