In their regular season finale, the women's soccer team earned their 9th win on the season after thoroughly dismantling the Potomac State 9-0. The team relied on balanced play on both sides of the ball and finished the game with 54 shots while holding the Catamounts to just one.
Howard managed to find the back of the net in the 26th minute on Devon Bodziony (Columbia, MD/Atholton)'s second goal of the season and, from there, the rout was on. The Dragons led 3-0 at the half after Lydia White (Columbia, MD/Cedar Brook Academy) scored two goals in a span of 7 minutes.
In the second half, the Dragons didn't let up on the pressure and Kaitlyn McDaniel (Westminster, MD./Westminster) added another goal in the 47th minute. Jasmine McConnell (Columbia, MD/Howard HS) encapsulated the game with her first goal on the season on an 87th minute header.
McDaniel, who had two goals on the day, said the team was "able to find passing patterns that helped us penetrate the defense, which lead to scoring opportunities that were then capitalized on by crashing the net". With the playoffs just around the corner, Kaitlyn said "our team's main goal is to remain consistent and play a full 90 minutes of dragon soccer".
After ending the regular season with a 9-4-1 [5-1-1] record and a four game winning streak, the Dragons will look to build off of their success and remain consistent when the playoffs start on October 26.
