The Howard Community College (HCC) Women's Volleyball program capped off a stellar weekend to win the Region XX tournament of Butler County Community College (BCCC) Sunday to advance to the District G Championship game.
The Dragons came out ready to play as they took the first set 25-21. However, the Dragons would exchange sets with BCCC over the next three games leaving it to the deciding 5th set. In the 5th set, the Dragons took a commanding 14-9 lead over BCCC. With match point, the Dragons let BCCC back into the match allowing them to score four unanswered before HCC finally put BCCC to bed ending the game 15-13 in the 5th set.Â
Alana Matson (Baltimore, MD/Seton Keough) came up huge for the Dragons, leading the team with 23 kills.Â
Lindsey Major (Elkridge, MD/Long Reach) led the Dragons on the day with 45 assists. Â
With the win, the Dragons will move to the District G Championship for the right to go to the national tournament. HCC will face off against Columbus State Community College (CSCC) Saturday, November 4 at home in the Dragons Lair; game time is set for noon.
