Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Ozair Hussain

Dragons take down CCBC-Catonsville

In a game primarily dominated by Howard from the opening period, the women's soccer team enjoyed a thrilling 2-0 victory over Catonsville thanks in part to their great offensive and defensive play.

The dragons struck first in the 5th minute with a goal from midfielder Kelsey Scott (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) on a great feed from forward Nikki Viera (Brazil) and encapsulated the game with a goal from defender Aleena Walters (Mt. Airy, MD/South Carroll HS) in the 66th minute.

As a team, the dragons tallied 12 shots on goal and 14 corner kicks while holding the cardinals to only one of each. Despite facing constant attacks and surrendering two goals, cardinal goalkeeper Emily Geppi finished the game with 10 saves.

When asked about her feelings about the outcome of the game, coach Seagroves believed that the team played pretty well considering the weather. However, she acknowledged that the team has some adjustments to make as well.  Next up the Dragons will face College of Southern Maryland on September 8 in La Plata, Md.
