Columbia, MD – The Dragons put forth a solid effort, but came up short against the Cougars from Frederick Community College who won in three sets 25-21, 25-12, 25-20.
The Dragons kept the first set competitive with a standout effort from
Sydney Tucker () with a couple kills and a few aces, but Frederick ran away late to take the lead.
In the second set, the Cougars raced past the Dragons with an early 9-0 lead that Howard was unable to dig themselves out of as they dropped the set 25-12.
Howard kept the third set closer, but were unable to capitalize on the Cougars mistakes in a late comeback attempt.
Mumbi Murugi-Kamau (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake) and Tucker combined for 41 of the 49 attack attempts for the team with Murugi-Kamau contributing seven kills and 10 digs.
The Dragons will travel to Raleigh, North Carolina where they will play against Wake Tech and Surry Community College in a tri-match on Saturday, October 20
th.
