Howard Drops Both In New York Series

New York – The Dragons weekend trip to New York saw Howard go up against a pair of undefeated teams as they lost 108-100 to Niagara County followed by a 82-56  loss to Genesee.

The Saturday game saw yet another offensive slugfest with both teams reaching triple digits, although much of that was due to 65 combined fouls being called and 89 free throws being shot for the two teams.

Jordan Reid (Silver Spring, MD/Albert Einstein) led the team with 25 points, but a couple of costly turnovers late in the game put a close contest out of reach in the end.

Freshman Deven Richmond (Bear, DE/DeMatha) earned his first start of the year and rewarded the coaching stagg with 24 points on 9-16 shooting from the floor while Jesse Calloway (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage) added 12 points and Brandon Howell (Suitland, MD/Henry Wise) chipped in 10.

Howard went into Genesee with a different looking team as just six players suited up. Kevin Yomba (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) ked the way with 14 points and 10 rebounds off the bench while Jaden Stonework (Clinton, MD/Gwynn Park), Nathan Ferguson (Silver Spring, MD/Bethesda), Amar Shivers (Washington, DC/Central), and Howell each scored 10 points.

Howell and Shivers added double-doubles to their record with 10 and 13 rebounds respectively while Markeem Lateef (Willingboro, NJ/Liberty Heights) earned his first start of the season and led the team with four assists.

The Dragons will make a much shorter trip for their next game, traveling to CCBC Catonsville for their conference debut on Tuesday, November 20 for a 7 PM match.
