Columbia, MD - A strong first quarter by the Dragons was over shadowed by Montgomery running away in the second half as the Raptors won 104-48.
Howard came out of the gates fired up as
Mia McCormick (Philadelphia, PA/River Hill) and
Sabreen Muslim (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College) combined to scored all 22 Dragon points in the first quarter as they trailed Montgomery 25-22 after the opening 10 minutes of play.Â
The Raptors jumped out to a 8-0 run to start the second quarter, but that momentum was halted by back-to-back jumpers by
Zulekha Karachiwalla (Marriottsville, MD/Marriotts Ridge)Â with
Shanta Johnson (Upper Marlboro, MD/Suitland) repeating that feat a few minutes later as Howard did a great job of keeping the game close. Montgomery answered back with a 12-0 run and continued to add to the rout in a second half as the Dragons depleted squad was clearly suffering from fatigue.
Muslim finished the game with 25 points and 15 rebounds for yet another double-double while McCormick added 12 points, six rebounds and five steals as she continues to lead the conference in swipes.Â
The Dragons will next travel to New Jersey to take on Bergen CC on Saturday, December 8 at 12 PM. Howard last played Bergen in 2015 as the Dragons won the game 66-44.
