Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse | | Ozair Hussain

Dragons Play Tough in Loss to Owls

The women's lacrosse team dropped their '18 home opener to Harford Community College
21-11. Sophomore midfielder Kelsey Scott (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) led the team with four goals in a valiant effort.
Howard managed to get on the scoreboard first with a goal from Scott on an assist from fellow
midfielder Nicole Keller (Ellicott City, MD/Howard) in the 27th minute of the first half. However, Harford managed to
answer back with a goal on the ensuing possession.
It wasn't until the end of the first half that either team managed to create separation from one
another when Harford went on a 4-1 scoring run in the remaining 5 minutes to lead 10-9 at the
intermission.
The second half didn't go so well for the Dragons as they were outscored 5-2 in the opening 10
minutes to go down 15-10. The Fighting Owls went on a 6-0 run in the remaining twenty
minutes to ultimately ice the game.
When asked about the game, sophomore defender Brittany Wartman (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron) said "The game was
definitely a rough one especially in the second half, but it's a learning curve and we know the
things we need to work on...We are gonna grow from this game and will come out stronger and
be ready to play them again later this season."
The Dragons will look to put this game behind them and earn their second win of the season
when they play at Anne Arundel Community College on March 22 in Arnold, MD.
