The Howard Community College (HCC) Dragons men's lacrosse program put together a dominate performance against a struggling Community College of Baltimore County Essex (
CCBC) Knights. HCC finished the game with a final score of 27-9.
HCC started the game on fire against the knights starting the game on a 6-0 run to open up the first quarter and never looked back. Even though the first quarter was the most dominate for the Dragons, it never gave
CCBC any hope of crawling its way back into the game.
Nine Dragons got into the
scoresheet during the game.
Will Smith (Rockville, MD, Rockville) led HCC again with 7 goals.
Ian Decker (Orlando, FL, Dr. Phillips) and
Chris Rinehart (Sykesville, MD, Century) were just behind Smith in goals, with 5 and 4 respectively. Decker led the Dragons in points with 9 on the day by adding 4 assists to his 5 goals.
TJ Atrill (Point of Rocks, MD, Brunswick) showed up strong in the
faceoff, winning 15-16 on the day.
Defensively, HCC held strong holding the knights to 9 goals. Dragons Starting Goalie
TJ Ellis (Mount Airy, MD, Oakdale) only gave up 1 goal in 15 minutes of action. Freshman Defenseman
Dayton Fisher (Hanover, MD, Howard) played an excellent all-around game for the Dragons. Fisher caused a turnover, scooped up 3 ground balls, added a goal and assist on the game.
With the win, HCC improves to 8-2, 4-0 on the season and will return to action on Tuesday April 17 as they will face the Northern Virginia Community College Nighthawks in a game that has been rescheduled from earlier in the year.
