Washington D.C. - The Dragons were unable to secure a victory in the Title IX Holiday Tournament as they lost their second round game 65-46 against Cecil College followed by a heartbreaking loss to Hostos Community College 65-62.
In the second round of the prestigious tournament played in the Washington D.C. armory, the Cecil Seahawks jumped out to an early lead and then extended it in the fourth quarter.
Brianna Jones (Largo, MD/Largo) secured another double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds while
Tyteana Seymore (Washington, D.C./Columbia Heights) also scored 14 points and
Ashlyn McInerney (Hyattsville, MD/Hammond)Â added 10 points.
In the final game for the Dragons, Howard was unable to hold onto a lead as they faltered in the fourth quarter against Hostos.
Mia McCormick (Philadelphia, PA/River Hill) had a big game with 20 points and eight rebounds while
Kyrstin Bowen (Westminster, MD/Mount Airy Christian) had double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Jones added 13 points and 13 rebounds while McInerney added 11 points including three long range hits.
Shanta Johnson (Upper Marlboro, MD/Suitland) scored five points and was able to dish out six assists.
The Dragons will finally get to enjoy their winter break before returning to the Dragons Lair on Wednesday, January 8 at 5 PM against CCBC Catonsville.
