McHenry, MD - Sophomore star center
Sabreen Muslim (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College) eclipsed the 500 point mark for the season as she led Howard to a 79-68 win over Garrett College in her final game in Maroon.
Muslim capped off her final game with 30 points and 23 rebounds in a historic season that sees her leading the Md Juco conference in points per game (23.5), rebounds per game (16.5), and was second in field goal percentage (53.2%). She will go down as one of the all-time great Dragons with 642 points scored and 420 rebounds in just 28 games played in her two year career at Howard.
The victory over Garrett saw multiple players step up in the season finale with
Ashlyn McInerney (Hyattsville, MD/Hammond) scored 21 points with eight assists while
Mia McCormick (Philadelphia, PA/River Hill) added 16 points, seven assists and six steals to the cause.
As a team, the Dragons had one of their best shooting performances of the season going 48% from the field while hitting 8-15 from behind the arc led by McInerney's 6-11 shooting from three point land.
The win feels significant for a Dragons team that had gone winless in the previous two seasons, but have shown a remarkable turnaround this year under the guidance of head coach
Marvin Evans with seven wins; three of which were conference victories.
