Hagerstown, MD -
Kevin Yomba (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) scored his third double-double of the season, but the Dragons fell to Hagerstown 89-76 in their penultimate game of the year.
Howard jumped ahead 27-19 midway through the first half on a
Zabril Carey (Laurel, MD/Reservoir) layup, but Hagerstown came back with a 16-0 run which led to the Dragons trailing 39-33 at halftime.
The Dragons made a big push early in the second half as
Jordan Reid (Silver Spring, MD/Albert Einstein) put in layups on back-to-back possessions as part of his 10 points for the night and
Jesse Calloway (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage) drained a three pointer, finishing with 14 points, to give Howard a 44-43 lead.
Deven Richmond (Bear, DE/DeMatha) scored 16 points on the game as he took over early in the second half as he converted a hoop and harm, followed by a long range three pointer and a monster dunk forcing the Hawks to call a timeout with the Dragons ahead 56-51.
Howard opened their lead up to seven points on a
Nathan Ferguson (Silver Spring, MD/Bethesda) jumper no his way to a 15 point performance, but that was the high water mark for the Dragons as Hagerstown went on a 20-2 run to take control of the game. All five Howard starters scored in the double-digits with Yomba adding 14 points and 11 rebounds to the cause.
The Dragons finish up their campaign on Sunday, February 10 as they travel to Garrett College for a 3 PM contest.
