Dundalk, MD –
Daeshawn Eaton (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) scored 25 points, but the Dragons were unable to hold a late lead as they fell to the CCBC Dundalk Lions 83-82 in dramatic fashion.
With the Dragons down by 11 and 11 minutes left in regulation, Naquan Williams- Day hit a huge three pointer to cut the deficit down to 59-52. Eaton followed that up with back-to-back steals that led to fast break layups as Howard trailed by just three.
After a
Cole Harshman (Baltimore, MD/Dulaney) layup, Williams-Day hit another big three pointer and
Joel Webb (Forestville, MD/Wise) scored on a
Kelvin Sellman (Temple Hills, MD/Crossland) assist to give the Dragons their first lead since it was 25-22 midway through the first half on their way to a 16-3 run.
The Dragons built up a five point lead at 82-77 on a Sellman offensive rebound and put back as Howard appeared to be in great position to take the road win. However, Dundalk was able to score the last six points of the game including a buzzer beating tip-in to take down Howard 83-82.
Eaton's 25 points came on 8-11 shooting from the floor and 3-3 from behind the arc along with seven assists and five steals. Richmond finished with 17 points and
Christian Matthews (Clinton, MD/National Christian) added 10 points with nine rebounds. Harshman, Webb, and Williams-Day all scored eight points each in the contest.
The Dragons will stay on the road as they head to Allegany on Tuesday, January 28 for a 7 PM game.
