Columbia, MD – A contest that quickly turned into a three point shooting contest saw the Dragons outlast the Garrett College Lakers 73-51.
The Lakers came out shooting hot as Maya Harvey hit four from long range in the first quarter, only to see the Dragons match them shot for shot led by
Ashlyn McInerney (Hyattsville, MD/Hammond) with nine first quarter points.
Garrett's hot shooting slowed down after a 21-21 first quarter as the Howard defense tightened up and were able to take control of the pace for the rest of the game against an exhausted Lakers side that dressed just five players.
McInerney finished the game with 18 points thanks to six long range makes with
Kyrstin Bowen (Westminster, MD/Mount Airy Christian) adding 13 points and seven rebounds.
Ciara Little's (New Haven, CT/James Hillhouse) return continues to be a huge boost for the Dragons as she scored 12 points and swiped the ball away five times.
The Dragons will get a week to rest up before hosting Beaver County on Saturday, February 15 at 1 PM.
