Columbia, MD - Playing in their first game against an NJCAA this season, the Dragons defeated the #9 ranked Suffolk County Sharks 13-7.
The Dragons got out to a slow start and trailed 2-1 after the first quarter of play, but caught fire after that in scoring 10 goals over the next 30 minutes of play.
Mikey Welsh (Brookeville, MD/Glenelg Country) led the way with a hat trick while
Jordan Swoyer (New Market, MD/Linganore), Adam Tekman and
John Kelly (Walkersville, MD/Walkersville) all added two goals each. Defenseman
Leo Dunlap (Omaha, NE/Creighton Prep) scored for a second consecutive game with
Jack Watsic (Frederick, MD/Linganore),
Drew Goode (Gambrills MD/Arundel) and
Clayton Finley-Ponds (Denver, CO/Denver East) all got on the scoresheet.
Jeremy Sforzo (Vail, CO/Battle Mountain) led the team with a trio of assists.
Howard once again had a 50/50 time share in net as
Evan Hock (Sykesville, MD/South Carroll) saved six to pick up the win and
Tim Russell (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) stopped seven shots in the second half.
The Dragons will now travel to #1 ranked Onondaga in Syracuse, NY on Saturday, March 14 for a 2 PM game against the national powerhouse Lazers.
