Columbia, MD - A gritty effort by
Tessa Cinotti (Laurel, MD/Reservoir) helped the Dragons storm past the College of Southern Maryland Hawks 6-0.
After a frustrating opening 30 minutes for the Dragons, Cinotti was able to fight her way through the Hawks defense to just barely poke the ball over the goal line. The Dragons second goal came five minutes later as a free kick on the outside of the goal box was passed into the middle by
Molly Nichols (Mt. Airy, MD/Glenelg) as the one-time shot by
Jenna Naumann (Sykesville, MD/Century) was powered into the top left corner of the net.
Cinotti would earn a second goal on a nice give and go with
Remi Rollins (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) for her ninth goal of the season to give the Dragons a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Early in the second half, it was Cinotti again making plays as her run down the right side of the field opened up space in the middle for Amy Rodriguez to hit a one-timer into the net for her fourth of the year. Cinotti would also set up Rollins' fifth goal of the season 10 minutes later to firmly put the game out of reach.Â
The hard work of
Tahlia Stangherlin (Hamilton, Ontario/Pallotti) finally paid off in the 86th minute as she stole the ball on a high press and put in the fast break goal for her 10th of the year.
The Dragons will close out their regular season schedule with a trip to CCBC Catonsville on Monday, October 18 at 4 PM.
