Columbia, MD - An energized Howard Dragons team held a powerhouse Harford Fighting Owls team in check for 55 minutes before finally giving way.
The Dragon defense headlined by the stellar play of
Sarah Woods (Laurel, MD/Reservoir) was able to limit the Harford chances to manageable saves for
Giselle Castillo (Falls Church, VA/Justice) who finished the game with 13 on the day.
After 55 minutes of stalwart defense, Harford finally broke through with a couple of goals off set pieces before a late third one closed the game out.
Howard will now go into postseason play as they host Frederick on Saturday, October 22 at 12 PM in the Region 20 Division II tournament quarterfinals. The two teams faced off just two weeks ago, in a 2-2 double overtime tie that was played at Frederick.
