Columbia, MD - A tale of two halves saw the Cecil Seahawks come back from a 21 point deficit to defeat the Dragons 85-76.
The Dragons played fantastic basketball in the first half, building up a 51-33 lead as the Dragons shot 57% from the field and appeared to be on their way to cruising to victory.
Cecil came out of the second half with a different energy level going on a 15-3 run and working their way to their first lead of the game at 64-63 midway through the half.
Andrew Mills (Owings Mills, MD/Newtown) and
Marquis Freeman (Manassas, VA/Fork Union Prep) hit a couple of big baskets each to earn the lead back for Howard, but the Seahawks led by the 30 points of Vernon Simmons continued to bruise their way past the Dragons.Â
Mills finished with 18 points and nine rebounds while
Benjamin Murphy (Reisterstown, MD/Franklin) added 13 points and seven assists. Freeman closed with 11 points while
O'Meech Wilson (Glen Burnie, MD/North County) provided big minutes with eight points before getting into foul trouble.
The loss snaps a streak of 38 consecutive home wins for the Dragons, dating back to January 23, 2019 as the last home loss for the men's basketball program.
The Dragons will look to rebound against the St. Mary's JV squad on Sunday, December 4 at 12 PM.
