Dragons Sweep at Harford Hoops Classic

Bel Air, MD – The #19 ranked Dragons were able to prevail in a pair of games at the Harford Hoops Classic with a 74-58 win over Beaver County and an 90-76 win over Delaware Tech.

In the Friday night showdown, Howard was able to defeat the Titans for the second time in a week as the two teams played at Howard on 12/10 in a 75-64 win. This time around, Howard was able to stifle the Titans offense even more effective as Beaver County shot just 35% from the floor.

The Dragons were able to work the ball effectively inside with 36 points in the paint as Andrew Mills (Owings Mills, MD/Newtown) scored 20 points while Koby Baptiste (New Carrollton, MD/Parkdale) scored 17 points with 10 rebounds. Benjamin Murphy (Reisterstown, MD/Franklin) added another strong game on both sides of the court with 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals while Marquis Freeman (Manassas, VA/Fork Union Prep) chipped in 11 points and eight rebounds.

In the Saturday matinee, Howard was able to withstand a hard charging Delaware Tech team to complete the sweep of the invitational.

The Dragons jumped out to a big double-digit lead early in the first half before Delaware Tech came storming back to take a one point halftime lead. Out of the intermission, the Dragons got back to their winning formula of efficient, methodical offense and a suffocating defense to break away from their opponents.

Howard improves to 12-1 on the season and will take that record into the holiday break before traveling to New Rochelle, NY for the Monroe College invitational. Howard will start the tournament playing against the #6 nationally ranked Orange County Colts on Saturday, January 7 at 4 PM.
