Columbia, MD - In the penultimate game at the old Athletic & Fitness Center, the Dragons were able to hold off a powerful Hagerstown team 61-57.
The first half saw the two teams never far from each other, with a late seven point Howard lead being nearly erased as they took a 33-32 advantage into halftime.Â
In the second half, Hagerstown built up a five point lead before the Dragons went on a 10-0 run as
Koby Baptiste (New Carrollton, MD/Parkdale) and
Jalen Bowie (Frederick, MD/Frederick) aggressively went at the Hawks defense. Hagerstown cut the Howard lead down to just two, but the dynamic duo of the Dragons combined to score the final nine Howard points and 19 combined points in the second half to carry the Dragons to victory.
Baptiste finished with 15 points and nine rebounds while Bowie scored 15 points with three assists.
Andrew Mills (Owings Mills, MD/Newtown) added nine points and seven rebounds with
Benjamin Murphy (Reisterstown, MD/Franklin) adding eight points and four assists.
