Hagerstown, MD - The Dragons held their opponents to just 44 points and came away victorious over the Hagerstown Hawks 56-44. The win ensures that Howard CC will play host to a regional tournament quarterfinal game as the higher seed will host the quarters in the eight team tournament and the Dragons have guaranteed themselves a top four finish in the standings.
Howard came out firing in the first half with a 37-21 lead at the break before putting on the breaks a bit for the second half.
Kori People (Washington, D.C./Central) showed some good offensive efficiency with 21 points on 8-15 shooting from the floor while
Tajah Goodman (Washington, D.C./South Hagerstown) added 11.
Madison Carey (Brandywine, MD/Frederick Douglass) was a basket short of a double-double with eight points and 12 rebounds as the leader of a team that cleaned up the glass well.
The Dragons will return to Columbia for their final regular season home game on Wednesday, February 23 at 5 PM when they take on the College of Southern Maryland for their second straight game against a team with a Hawks mascot.Â
