Columbia, MD - The Dragons recovered from a slow start to defeat a Cecil Seahawks team that came into the match on a five game winning streak to win 3-1.

Cecil used a 11-1 run midway through the first set, taking advantage of Dragon miscues to take a 25-16 win in the opener. Brenna Siperko (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron) put the team on her back in the second set, hitting six straight kills in a row to put Howard ahead early followed by a 6-0 run capped by a Mikaela Brewer (Gaithersburg, MD/Covenant Life) ace to take a commanding lead. Howard closed the set on another 5-0 run with Eryca Sterling (Columbia,MD/Wilde Lake) picking up two assists and Morgan Conner (Sandy Spring, MD/Sherwood) closing out the set in style for a 25-13 win.

The third set saw the teams exchange long runs and stay close throughout with Cecil getting set point at 24-23. Sydnei Harmon (Largo, MD/Flowers) came through with a clutch kill to tie the set, followed by a couple of Seahawk mistakes that gave Howard the 2-1 lead.
 
The fourth set lead wire-to-wire as Conner stepped it up another level, closing the match with three straight kills along with an exciting double block by Harmon and Jessica Hendricks (Woodbine, MD/Covenant Life) to give Howard the 25-18 set win and the match.

Conner finished with 17 kills while Siperko added 10 to the cause with Brewer providing 36 assists in the match.

The Howard marathon streak of games will see them compete in a tri-match with Anne Arundel and Garrett on the campus of the AACC Riverhawks on Saturday, October 1 starting at 1 PM.
