Arnold, MD - A flurry of second half goals spelled the end of the Howard women's soccer teams season as they fell to the Ane Arundel Riverhawks 6-1 in the Region 20 tournament quarterfinals.
The Dragons fell behind in the eighth minute when a save by
Olivia Jackson (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) saw the rebounded shot tapped in to give Anne Arundel the early lead.
Midway through the second half,
Kimberly Ruano (Laurel, MD/Laurel) took advantage of a defensive miscue by the Riverhawks as she was able to steal the ball away and score into an empty net to tie the game at 1-1.
Anne Arundel regained the lead a few minutes later when a long shot bounced off the cross bar and took an unlucky rebound off Jackson and into the net. From their the Riverhawks added four more insurance goals late in the game to put an end to the roller coaster 2023 season of the Dragons.
