Columbia, MD - The Dragons were unable to hold on to an early lead as they fell to the Potomac State Catamounts 6-3.
Howard got out to a dream start as
Jefferson Estrada (Hyattsville, MD/Northwood) hit a wonder goal from long range in the third minute of the game for his first goal of the season. Just 30 seconds later the Dragons doubled their lead as a foul in the Catamounts goal box gave Howard a penalty kick which
Jason Fuentes (Columbia, MD/Hammond) powered home to make it a 2-0 lead.
Potomac State scored two goals late in the first half to tie the game 2-2 at the halftime intermission. Howard came out with a renewed vigor to start the second half as a cross was helped along by
Fousseiny Diallo (Mali/AISB) to a wide open
Truce Norton (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) to head the ball into the net and regain the lead for the Dragons.
The Catamounts took advantage of opportune moments after that, scoring four goals in a four minute period to deflate the home crowd.
The Dragons fall to eighth in the region at 3-5 as they look to hold on to a playoff spot. They will take on a strong Northern Virginia side on Thursday, October 5 at 3 PM.
