Box Score Cumberland, MD – The #12 ranked Howard Dragons pulled off a stunning upset over the #3 ranked Niagara County Thunderwolves in the Personal Best Classic at Allegany College of Maryland.
 
The first half saw the two nationally ranked teams playing evenly with neither team pulling away over the opening 20 minutes of the game.
 
Howard went down 38-32 early in the second half, but the comeback started with a couple of slick post moves by Andrew Mills (Owings Mills, MD/New Town) on back-to-back possessions. O'Meech Wilson (Glen Burnie, MD/North County) drove the lane to tie the game followed by a Ryan Conway (Towson, MD/Dulaney) steal and fast break layup to take the lead for Howard. The defense continued to make stops, highlighted by a huge Mills block as the Dragons went on a 17-0 run holding the Thunderwolves scoreless for 10 minutes.
 
Niagara County began to find their scoring touch again, cutting the Howard lead down to 51-48 with 6:30 left. Emanuel Henriques (Baltimore, MD/Benjamin Franklin) single handedly stopped that momentum with a steal on one side of the court then rushed down the other way for a quick give and go for the hoop and harm to bring the Howard lead back up to six. Jaden Johnson (Upper Marlboro, MD/Dr. Henry A. Wise) hit a clutch corner three pointer as the Dragons were able to close out the game without ever allowing the Thunderwolves within striking distance again.
 
Wilson scored 14 points along with 17 rebounds for his first double-double of the season along with four blocks and four steals. Mills also added a double-double as well with 15 points and 11 rebounds with five blocks and a couple steals. Henriques continued his fine form off the bench with 11 points while Conway scored eight points in his first action of the season. Shane Taylor (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) and John Thomas (Baltimore, MD/Patterson) added six points each while Johnson closed with five.
 
The Dragons will complete their invitational experience against the hosts Allegany College of Maryland on Sunday, November 12 at 6 PM. The Allegany Trojans are 3-0 on the season with all three coming against quality opponents in what should be another tough matchup for Howard.
