Dragons Fall to #7 Generals in Overtime Thriller

Loch Sheldrake, NY - The #12 ranked Dragons took the #7 ranked Sullivan County Generals to overtime in an instant classic, but ultimately fell 90-86.

Howard overcame an early deficit with a big run late in the first half to trail 37-35 at halftime. The two teams exchanged leads throughout the second half as very little separated the talented squads.

With the Dragons down two with a couple minutes left in overtime, a clutch tip in by Arthur Roache (Washington, DC/Theodore Roosevelt) tied it up again. With the Dragons down three with 30 seconds left, Andrew Mills (Owings Mills, MD/New Town) scored an uncontested layup off an inbound play to close the gap. The Dragons fouled right away to put the Generals at the line, making one of two with 13 seconds left. John Thomas (Baltimore, MD/Patterson) took the inbound and drove coast to coast for a layup to toe the game and send it to overtime.

The Generals jumped out quickly to an 86-79 lead in the extra frame, but a huge Mills three pointer from the top of the arc started the Howard comeback. Colin Harshman (Baltimore, MD/Catonsville) drove the lane and scored while being fouled, but missed the free throw to keep the Sullivan lead at two. The Dragons had several late chances to tie the game, but couldn't hit the big one while watching four players foul out late.

Emanuel Henriques (Baltimore, MD/Benjamin Franklin) had a second straight big game with 24 points while Mills finished with 21 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three blocks. Thomas closed with 18 points in the game and Jalen Bowie (Frederick, MD/Frederick) had a big game on both sides of the ball with seven points, five assists and three steals while playing great defense throughout.

The Dragons will next head south to take on Northern Virginia on Wednesday, November 8 at 7 PM.
