Dragons Complete HHC Sweep With Rout Over Beaver

Bel Air, MD – The Dragons found their three point shooting stroke as Howard defeated Beaver County for the second time in a month, this time routing the Titans 97-61. Howard will go into the winter break with a 12-3 record and complete the sweep of the Harford Hoops Classic.

Howard came out of the gates firing as they led 35-7 just 10 minutes into the game, dictating the pace both offensively and defensively. The Dragons built the lead up to 33 in the first half before settling on a 51-22 halftime lead. That lead went up to 43 early in the second half before the Dragons finally started to cool their fire and cruise the rest of the game.

The Dragons shot 13-23 from three point range with the 13 made threes marking the most in a game this season for Howard. The Dragons also set a season high with 37 made field goals while matching their season best 8 personal fouls called against the team.

Andrew Mills (Owings Mills, MD/New Town) led the team with 18 points followed closely by Ryan Conway (Towson, MD/Dulaney) with 17 and Shane Taylor (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) with 14. Arthur Roache (Washington, DC/Theodore Roosevelt) scored a season high 9 points with John Thomas (Baltimore, MD/Patterson) and Colin Harshman (Baltimore, MD/Catonsville) each scoring 8. Howard had 13 different scorers for a second straight game with Tai Olowu (Seat Pleasant, MD/Fairmont Heights) scoring in the closing minutes to match the mark.

The Dragons will take a three week break for the winter holiday before getting back at it on January 6, 2024 when they travel to Monroe College with tip off set for 7 PM. The Dragons will face two highly competitive teams in the Monroe College Invitational starting with the division 1 powerhouse hosts who currently sport an 8-4 record.

Monroe has won the last two contests between the two teams with the Mustangs winning on January 8, 2023 by the score of 77-67. Howard last defeated the Mustangs in December 2019 in Bel Air, MD when the Dragons upset the Mustangs 82-67.
