Raleigh, NC - The Dragons opened their season with a resounding 3-0 victory over Shaw University JV before falling to Cape Fear CC 2-0 the following day.
In the season opener, the Dragons proved effective in front of goal, scoring three times on just seven shots.
Fousseiny Diallo (Mali/AISB) and
Abderrahim Mounaji (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) scored in their collegiate debuts while
Jason Fuentes (Columbia, MD/Hammond) continued to be a force after a strong freshman season.
In the second day of games, the Dragons and Cape Fear proved equal matches for most of the game. Cape Fear broke through on a controversial goal on a corner kick that goalkeeper
Jesse Sanchez (Laurel, MD/Laurel) was interfered with in the 62nd minute. With Howard pushing everyone forward, Cape Fear was able to counter attack and score an insurance goal to put the game away.
The Dragons will return to Maryland to travel the short distance to CCBC Catonsville on Tuesday, August 29 at 5 PM.
