Rockville, MD - The Dragons lost a tight four set match to host Montgomery College in the first match of the day before sweeping through Baltimore City in straight sets in the second game.
In the opener, the Dragons narrowly missed out on upsetting the Montgomery Raptors in their home gym as they fell 25-19, 19-25, 26-24, 25-18.
Vanessa Miller (Germantown, MD/Gaithersburg) led the offense with 12 kills and 14 digs while
Sydnei Harmon (Largo, MD/Flowers) had 10 kills and three blocks.
Makayla Holland (Gaithersburg, MD/Gaithersburg) added 29 assists and 20 digs to the effort while
Stefamae Barquillia (Philippines/Einstein) picked up 23 digs.
Howard responded with a resounding win over the Baltimore City Panthers in the second match as they won 25-5, 25-2, 25-7. Miller had six kills and three aces while Barquillia, Holland, and Aaliyah Murfee each had five aces. Harmon and
Ashlee Forde (Barbados/Foundation) swatted down five kills each while
Taylor Hall (Annapolis, MD/Howard) added four kills.
The Dragons will return home for an important regional matchup against the Northern Virginia Nighthawks on Wednesday, September 20 at 7 PM. The match will be played at nearby Atholton High School and will be live streamed on the Dragons website.
