Newark, NJ – The Dragons dominate the Wolverines of Essex County 5-1 in a mid-day match in north New Jersey.
Kimberly Ruano (Laurel, MD/Laurel) scored two goals in the first half at the 22nd and 33rd minute of the game with both goals assisted by Melissa Villatoro (Riverdale, MD/Parkdale). The Wolverines remained scoreless going into halftime, keeping the score at 2-0 for the Dragons.
As the second half of the game began, Essex County found themselves a spot on the scoreboard in the 56th minute of the match with a goal by Taina Gervais assisted by Nisrine Taalba. The Wolverines felt a shift in the movement of the match, but the Dragons continued to show up on offense adding 3 more goals to the scoreboard. Ruano scored two more goals for the Dragons at the 64th and 86th minute of the game, bringing her goals to 4 for the match, with both goals assisted by Yoselin Ortiz Cruz (Alexandria, VA/Alexandria City). In the final two minutes of the match Melissa Villatoro (Riverdale, MD/Parkdale) added one last goal to the scoreboard for the Dragons, that was assisted by Aysia Taylor (Sykesville, MD/Atholton), solidifying their win 5-1.
The Dragons will be back in action on September 26, as they will host a match-up against the Hawks of Southern Maryland, kickoff is scheduled for 4 PM.
