Colora, MD - The Howard Community College Dragons men's JV basketball team wrapped up their first month of play on November 22, falling to West Nottingham Academy 94-69.
The Dragons set a new scoring-record for the program, with three players scoring in double digits. The Dragons set a new team record for rebounds with 50, assists with 17, and blocks with ten. The Dragons also set a new team record in turnovers, with 39 hampering their chances at victory.
The Dragons added two new players to the roster, borrowing
Jasper Hanna (Washington, DC/E.L. Haynes) and
Kanye McMahon (Lexington Park, MD/Chopticon) prior to the contest. Both newcomers contributed: Hanna finished with 11 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and a steal, while McMahon added eight points, nine rebounds, five assists, and two blocks. Both players are expected to be leading figures for the team the rest of the year.
The leading scorer for the Dragons was
Nehemiah Smith (Bronx, NY/Laurel), who finished with his second double-double of the season. Smith added 17 points 16 rebounds, four blocks, and two assists.
Stewart Long (Annapolis, MD/Springdale Prep) added ten points and three rebounds, while
Bliden Elung (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) added nine points, five rebounds, and two blocks.
Xavier Doctor (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) added eight points off the bench.
The Dragons next face Harcum College's JV team on Tuesday, December 3 at 7:00 PM.
