Andrew Mills (Owings Mills, MD/New Town) scored a career high 31 points as the Dragons bamboozled the Garrett Lakers by the score of 79-54. The Dragons continue to hold first place in the region at 9-1 and are now 21-5 overall for the season.
The Lakers were able to get out to a 5-4 lead early on for their only lead of the game until a 10-0 run by Howard set the tone for the rest of the game. Mills was went on a solo 6-0 run midway through the first half as he scored 20 points in the first half.
Leading 39-26 at halftime, the Dragons never let off the gas pedal as they were the model of offensive efficiency and were defensively sound as they opened up the lead to as much as 26 in the second half.
Mills was able to secure a double-double in the game with 11 rebounds to go with with 31 points. The starting five had a fantastic all-around game as
Shane Taylor (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) scored 14 with 6 assists.
Jalen Bowie (Frederick, MD/Frederick) scored 12 points with 4 assists and
O'Meech Wilson (Glen Burnie, MD/North County) added a double-double as well with 1- points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks.
The Dragons will next travel south to take on the College of Southern Maryland Hawks on Tuesday, February 13 at 8 PM. The Hawks currently sit at second place in regional play at 8-2 and are 16-8 overall.
