COLUMBIA, MD - The Army Cadets jumped out to a massive first quarter lead as the Dragons fell 18-6, falling to 0-2 on the year.
The first quarter was dominated by Army as they took a 13-0 lead after the first quarter. Howard was able to settle in the game after that with their first goal coming just before the halftime whistle as
Cyrus Frid-Denikos (Elkridge, MD/Howard) scored on a
Gianni Karam (Ellicott City, MD/Mount Hebron) feed.
Howard started to find a solid formula in the third quarter as
JT Harich (Point of Rocks, MD/Brunswick)Â assisted on three straight goals with Karam scoring two and
Joe Hathaway (New Market, MD/Oakdale) picking up the other one. Hathaway would add a second goal early in the fourth quarter while Karam finished his hat trick in the closing minutes of the game.
Charlie Wendel (Glenwood, MD/Glenelg) came into goal at the start of the second quarter and played fantastic, making 15 saves on 20 shots.
The Dragons' schedule won't get any easier as they host the #1 ranked team in the NJCAA as Harford comes to town on Sunday, March 3 at 12 PM. The Fighting Owls are the defending national champions after a perfect 12-0 season in 2023.
